Where is a good place to go on vacation?

Where's a good place for a single male to go on vacation?

  • Hello, I'm a 30 year old male from NY. I really want to go on vacation this summer (August) and am trying to figure out where to go. I'm single, and have never took a vacation on my own. Usually did this with a girlfriend. I was thinking Arizona just because I always wanted to go there and see all the landscapes and such but I wasn't sure if being alone that would get old fast. I'm on somewhat of a budget, meaning Europe, Australia, Etc would probably be out of the question. My budget would be up to $2,000 for the trip (airfare, hotel) and some extra money for spending. I've never even eaten at a food establishment by myself so the whole traveling alone kinda weirds me out. Alas though I'm single, and for many different reasons friends wont be able to go. I'm dead set on leaving NY and getting out there to see the world, either foreign or domestic. I suppose my main concern is if I'm just going to end up somewhere that's flooded with couples and I'm that weird guy that's sitting there by myself (X's 7 days). Not looking for singles cruises, or hook up things. Just somewhere to go by my lonesome and have an enjoyable time. Warm is good, hate the cold and the only other thing is that I would like to stay away from is the " big city" scene, I live in NY, I can get that experience everyday. Well thank you for your help Yahoo question answerers. You're help and opinions are greatly appreciated!

  • Answer:

Try somewhere overseas like in a tropic island vacation spot. I recommend Bali Island especially if you love peace of mind but more private and calming place to unwind. Try this website http://www.balivillaholidays.com/

Going anywhere might get old fast BUT if you plan things it can be fun. Arizona sounds nice but another place might be Alberta, Canada. Or maybe Bristish Columbia, Canada. I know from experience being there alone doesn't get old fast. I went there for a month alone. I seen the rocky mountains and went on a few hikes. It is a blast

Las Vegas, NV. Rent a car and go see Death Valley. Bring Water. Or take a tour of Grand Canyon.

That was my final Answer.

I HAVE YOUR ANSWER one of the best places i have ever visited for a 5 day trip is going from Myrtle Beach Carolina, to Savanna Georgia, to St.Augustine Florida. If you can try going to small towns they always makes me happy) Then on the way back you go to the Outer Banks stop near Virginia for a long rest then continue up towards Washington D.C. beautiful city, then after that the rest is up to you.

I wouldn't worry to much about the whole travelling along thing. I went to europe and the UK for 2 months alone, and then just recently i went to europe and the US for 2 months, again, on my own. There is no way i have regretted doing it, and all my friends were so jealous of the things i seen and did. While i was travelling i ate out by myself everynight, and it was fine. i also went to theme parks and broadway shows by myself too. You couls always go down to florida and catch a boat across to the bahamas for a couple nights? I loved Venice Beach in LA. That was very laid back and relaxed, Hostels can be quiet cheap, and a lot of fun to stay in, and at the end of the day, its only a bed and roof over your head. Well, that's my theory anyways. The first time i did europe, i stayed in hotels, this time i did hostels, saved more money, and had twice the fun. At the end of the day, you only get out what you put in.

Before l was married, l went on several vacations by myself, because just like you, your friends can't always be counted on to go when you can go. Go, you will never regret it. And being by yourself will push you to talk to people, and learn from the locals. l would strongly suggest lreland, although that could be on the cool side for you! Super friendly people, great pubs, safe, great sites to visit for every thing you could think of, (natural, historic, modern, etc) You might want to consider a walking tour from B&B to B&B, where they carry your luggage, and you just walk from point A-B. Google, there are tons of tour companies available explore.co.uk is also a good resource, and we have used this company a few times and had good results. Hawaii is also beautiful, and well worth a visit. Be careful about anything in the Caribbean - as that is the start of hurricane season, and may not be a great destination for that time of yr. You are really lucky, because in NYC all the flights are available, and you don\'t have to pay extra for a flight to get you to your flight. have a great time. Don't worry about being by yourself, make the most of it, and build a lifetime of experience and memories.
