How long will a renewed UK passport take to arrive?

  • My passport has run out and I need a new one. I know on the official site it says like4-6 weeks but have been told they just higher that to 'cover their own backs' should it be late Plus I know this question is already up here but none of them current and things change..

    It only takes 4-6 weeks if you're applying for your first passport, but renewing by post should only take 3 weeks. If you need it slightly quicker you can opt for the Post Office check and send which aims to get it back to you in two weeks (and I think costs just under a tenner to use). I've used this before and it took only 10 days from the date of sending it off with the PO and that was over the summer. If you can spare the extra money it would definitely be worth using check and send!
