What is a good longboard for me?

What type of longboard deck is good for beginners?

  • I am 5'3 and weigh about 105-10 pounds. I am wanting to get into the longboards but I am not sure what type of deck/base I should get for my longboard. I want a longboard that is fast but not THAT fast and that has the ability to turn pretty good. The area I live in has basically NO hills but there is a big overpass that goes over a interstate (probably not going down it.) I want to he able to lean on one side of the board and turn with it but not too much.

Hey man, Somebody just asked the same question (to an extent). Let me give you my answer: You want to have a board that will give you a good first experience, yet won't leave you bankrupt and with a high-tech piece of equipment that you find entirely inoperable. Sector 9 longboards are high performance boards, low cost, fun to ride, and best of all: they all the only thing more lovable than a teddy bear for a 6 year-old. If you looking to do a lot of cruising (meaning a lot of peddling to get from point-a to point-b) which is also called commuting, go with a board that has something called drop through. That makes it a whole easier. Drop through makes everything easier. Drop through means the trucks have dropped through the top of the board through a hole, instead of just drilling on straight to the bottom of the board (called top mounting). If you're looking for a downhill board, get the Sector Punta Lobos, with Paris 195mm trucks and some Orangatang 4Prez wheels. Keep in mind that the larger the trucks, the better for downhill, and smaller are better for carving (making small turns to zig-zag while going straight). The best website for these kinds of questions is www.silverfishlongboarding.com look me up my name is SuperJarhead . If you've got any questions, feel free to message me. Thanks! :) Ride on!

I recommend you check out the Sector 9 Mini Shaka. It is an amazing first board. Extremely versatile, for cruising or even some downhill. It is pretty cheap as well at around $160 complete, setup with Paris 180 Adam Coltons, and Gravity Blazer wheels. http://www.muirskate.com/longboard/completes/10741/Sector-9-Mini-Shaka-Freeride-Longboard-Custom-Complete.html

It's gonna be hard to slide with no hills but I'd suggest a pintail or a cruser :D

Never get a pin tail bcuz if u tru to turn hard weels rub on board. U fall off. I recomend paris 180 trucks/axels, sector9 mini shaka deck, and orangatang stimulus wheels. Also check out bustin boards they r sick. Btw theres no such thing as a good board for 100$
