I need tips on Volleyball Tryouts :)?
-
So hi everyone :) Even though I already asked you guys a similar question a while ago and got good advice, I need other tips too :) So I've been playing volleyball for 3 years now in a club, a friend and I went to the tryouts of the club where we learned to play volleyball but since there already were 16 people in the team, the coach explained that in every game, 4 people just had to sit there and just watch without playing. He asked us if we still wanted to join but we didn't accept his offer. So now, we're going to the Tryouts of another club tomorrow. Here's the thing about me in tryouts: I get super excited and get frozed, so I can't really move and get the balls (that's what she said).. that's kind of the real problem for me. And by the way, I want to be a setter because my pass's are quite awesome :P Never mind, I would really appreciate if you could give me some tips on how I can stress less and play better, and how I can stop worrying and stuff? Like, any tips would work :) Thank you :)

Practice makes perfect. To play effectively, you'd need to react faster. Play with a team. Play with passions, not prides. You have to willingly let go of that fear and take one for the team sometime. Watch scary movie, it'd help you at the very least to prepare for shocking moments.

Practice is the only way to get better. You can practice setting in a chair while watch TV or laying in the bed. A Setter is always moving on the court . To being a Setter you have to contral the flow on the court for your team. So you can't just freeze on the court. Have you try listening to music to relax. My be you might think about being a DS or Libero they are go passer, too.

What do coaches mainly look for? Coachable players. I would know i play and both of my parents are coaches! If a coach gives you advice or asks you to change something. DO!!! No matter what if there are 2 players equal in talent, they will take the more coachable kid over the other. Setting is very fun! I was a setter for 3 years but not i play outside, middle, and right side! I am a very versatile player and that is a very good thing to coaches. So if you can play several positions, show them that!

You just gotta have fun. Try listening to music or doing something else that helps your relax before practice/tryouts/games. It also helps if you're familiar with the people on your team, you feel more comfortable playing with them and being around them. If you want to be a setter, you'll have to strengthen your hands (fingers) and practice a lot. Try getting a setter's ball if you can, these are weighted volleyballs made for setters to practice setting, either off a wall, or with a teammate or friend. Pushups help a lot too. Just find the position that you like, and stick with it and practice to get better at it. If you want to be a setter, then practice for that. Once again, just make sure you're calm and relaxed out there, and have fun!
