The local council will be able to tell you who owns the land. You will probably need a solicitor to sort out the rest of your problem. Actually I concur with Stuart on this one. If something (such as a vacant parking lot) appears too good to be true, it usually is.

Here's news: you were parked on the lot, and you clearly do not own it. That means you were parked on a lot belonging to someone else. So the question becomes, does it seem reasonable to you if someone was parked on your land that you should have the right to have that vehicle towed off your land? If you answer yes, you can empathize with the lot's owner. Perhaps you should have asked permission to park there. - Stuart

Oh my god, it's called punctuation. Use it. First, you can find out who owns the lot by calling the towing company and asking. They'll probably tell you. Second, depending on the state, there are generally laws against towing vehicles without signage or notification. Find a lawyer and dispute the charges. The company will have to release the cars while the dispute is pending.

well of the states have different laws concerning parking issues. Where Im from If there is no sign you cant get your car towed. In fact the apartment complex where I used to stay at the signs were ripped down because there were no visitors parking. The tow truck never took a car if there was no sign. Another thing if there was a sign that said or implied that it was private property your better off leaving it alone.
