What does vitamin E cream do and how do you apply it?

Can I cut off a few skin tags, apply a bandaid and some vitamin E cream and be done with it?

  • I've been having a lot of problems with skin tags pretty much my whole life (and I'm only 18!) I have a couple of big ones on my back in the same spots that my grandpa does so I figure they're genetic. I was wondering if I could just get one of my friends to cut them off and be done with them or if they would bleed too much and need to me cauterized.

  • Answer:

I work at a derm office. I don't think you should use the wart remover. The skin tags can bleed something awful when they are cut off because they have a blood vessel in them. I had a large one cut off my leg by a doctor and it bled a lot and they had to use aluminum chloride to stop it. I do not recommend cutting them. I have heard of people "tying" them with string real tight and it cuts off the blood supply and then they drop off. I have not done this personally, but you might find instructions on google. Make sure that if you do decide to try to snip them, snip only a very small one first and use scissors that you have washed and sterilized with alcohol or else you will end up with an infection. I would be very very cautious about snipping large ones as I said before they can bleed a lot. Having them treated at a dermatologist would be the best thing.

It will be fantastically painful to chop them off. Instead get wort removing acid gel or the freezing stuff. You can get it of the shelf in a pharmacy and it's really effective. Skin tags are just a type of wort after all.
