How to make Sugar Candy?

What kind of candy can I make with a sugar and water mixture?

I found a recipe online for making homemade rock candy. I followed the instructions to the T and nothing is forming. So, now I have 7 glass jars with sugar water and wooden dowels in them. Crystals were supposed to start forming on them after the first hour but I checked them this morning (after starting it late afternoon yesterday) and nothing. I'm throwing a Super Hero Birthday party for my 4 year old Son tomorrow afternoon and was planning on making those rock candies "Kryptonite" buuuuut, I'm pretty sure it's not going to work now and have no idea what to make with all the extra green sugar water! lol
