Good vacations without cars?

Is 7 cars for 3 people justifiable?

  • There's 3 people in my family (My parents and I). We have seven cars: Dad: 97' Jaguar xk8 00' Porsche 911 04' BMW 760li Mom: 11' BMW 650i (leased) 11' BMW 760li (leased) 03' Land Rover Range Rover Me: 03' Mercedes sl55 A lot of people have told me that my family having all these cars are ridiculous and a waste of money, but in reality they were all bought used and with the money we spent on them we could have maybe bought 3 new Hondas. People tell me that we should have put the money towards charity and stuff. My dad is a car fanatic; he uses the jaguar in the summer, the porsche is his 'track' car and the bimmer is his daily driver. My mom is a business woman, so she uses the 7 series when she meets and drives with clients and the 6 series is her weekend/joy car when shes not working. The range rover is more of a family car when we take vacations or bring the dog to the vet and stuff. Is this not okay? Why do people think we shouldn't have that many cars if their all

  • Answer:

What you and your family do with your money is up to you and what others choose to do with their money is up to them. The cars sound like they are something that interests you all so as long as you're able to pay other bills, eat and otherwise take care of yourselves, don't worry about what other people think. If you find it in your heart to give to charity or to those who are less fortunate, then do so but don't do it because someone tries to shame you into it.

Personally I think you are asking this question just to brag about what you own. Why I don't know. Anyone can borrow money to buy a car or 2 or 3. My opinion is that you do not have to justify how many cars you own. Why anyone would need more than 1 I can't imagine but if you do then that's your choice. It has nothing to do with anyone else.

Really? I don't consider this a question that you are seeking an answer for as much as I believe that you are bragging about your family's good fortune.

Not Even If You Paid Me

Obviously you can afford to have the luxury of the cars. I wouldn't brag as millionaries drive Prius's or Honda's if they have some close connection or personal value. Its all choice. You live in America you are free to have these cars.

Assuming your family can afford to buy/lease and run these cars, and you've got enough space to park them without blocking your neighbours' driveways, it's nobody's business but your own.

I don't see a problem here other than you actually caring what others think or say. What you have and how you spend your money is no ones business but your family's. Anyone that criticizes that in the future should be ignored.

i think that the fact that if you and your family have to break out all of a sudden in an emergency and take all of your belongings, theres going to be 4 cars left behind. like previous people have said , its your money , its up to you how many cars you have... just ask Jay Leno. But the fact that you need 7 cars for 3 people shows that you guys do your own thing and might not spend as much time together as a normal family. Plus i see a lot of redundancy in your cars. the 2 sunmer cars and a track car is very redundant and i bet neither one of those three cars gets even 1000 miles a year
