Is this a way how the United Nations may help refugees?

I'm doing a project on the United Nations and for A informative part I did diary entries in the perspective of a refugee that was helped by the UN. In the entries, the person and other people were traveling by foot to get away from their country and the brutal war in it. The UN found them walking and decided to fly them over to America, where they helped them find a place to live. Is this correct that the United Nations may do this? Please help! I need answers ASAP because if it's wrong I have to rewrite the last part :(

Why should we be the only people required to support refugees in a style that would be considered rich in their native countries? Dump these people onto other countries and listen to the reaction.
