What should I do after a spider bite?

I have a weird spider bite, can anybody tell me what spider did it?

  • Well, earlier a small, very small brown spider crawled on my face. I tried swiping it off but was shaky and missed. It was on my chin, and it bit me as i tried to dispose of it. I can tell because i felt a prick, then i hit it and ran away. I didn't get a good look at it because i panicked and ran. Now, i have a very large bump on my chin, two small identifiable holes that are black, and it stings HORRIBLY. It feels like somebody is pressing a match against it. It's aching and stinging, its very sore. I live in the mid-west, northern Ohio if that helps. I don't think it's severe, because i have no symptoms of black widow or the brown recluse (only dangerous spiders native to here), actually, no other symptoms at all, but the bite hurts very bad and i was wondering if any of you know what did it? Thanks.

    GO TO THE DOCTOR IF IT DEVELOPS ANY REDNESS!!! I thought that i was bitten by a bug or something ( was bitten on the boob and didn't even feel it at first). Then it started to get red and i was like... hmmm.... must be a rash. Now I have trouble breathing and feel like im having a heart attack!! Its a brown recluse bite. And they bite whether they are little or big. GO! i'm a CNA and didn't even make the connection until it was too late. Get help now!!

Usually pain from common spider bites is short lived but there may be a lingering itch. These kind of bites are insignificant unless you have allergies to venom.(doesn't sound like it) Ice is the best treatment. Smacking a spider against the skin may provoke a spider to bite. If this should happen again, gently brush the spider off or let it crawl off. A very small spider can hardly cause your symptoms,and you certainly won't see fang marks except from very large spiders. What's puzzling, is your large bump and visible black holes are not consistent with spider bites. (picture an ant sting or bad mosquito bite) PS; if pressure on the bump makes it hurt worse, this is a skin abscess, and not from the spider.

Try applying some baking powder to it. if it dosent works vitis a doctor.

Brown recluse spider bites cause necrosis within a few days. If you have a 1 or 2" diameter area of your chin slough off, it will have been a brown recluse bite. You should probably seek medical attention now since it is on your head. I don't know if anything can be done other than plastic surgery and such to repair the damage after the skin has died off.
