Is a key holder better than a sales associate?

Would you consider my position a key holder?

  • The company I work for doesn't give titles. I'm considered a sales associate yet I have a key, open and close the store (by myself) and complete the duties of a key holder. I'm considering taking a second job since the only person allowed to get over 30 hours is the store manager. Is it appropriate to list my job title as key holder on applications?

  • Answer:

I think I would list myself as a sales associate and then list the key-holding responsibilities of opening and closing the store, etc. You sound very conscientious, hard-working, reliable, and dedicated, so I wish you the best in finding an outstanding job!

Other answers

I wouldn't do that if you plan on keeping your current job. Being a "key holder" usually means that you can be called in to the office on a 24/7 basis.
