What's the difference between a medical assistant & medical assisting tech?

i'm starting college soon & am going for medical assisting technology. my question is : are they the same thing, according to my college you only study a year for medical assitant but i need an associates (2 yrs) in medical assiting tech. is the pay higher? does it include the same duties & responsibilities?

I'm 16 and I just got my medical assisting license, Medical assisting tech is a combination of nursing skills such as giving a bedbath, transferring, denture care, and vital signs which are skills you do on patients, as well as office skills such as pharmacology, anatomy and physiology, medical office, etc. The tech is just a step higher than the assistant.
