Do ps2 controllers work on the pc with a game made for the ps3?

I just got the game skyrim for the windows 7 pc and I don't want to use the keyboard to play such a "hands on" game. I want to use a controller but I don't have a ps3 nor its controller. I have a ps2 and a controller, I am considering buying an adapter to my computer. But what I need to know: Does a ps2 controller work on the pc for a game that was originally made for the ps3 and xbox360?

not really.the firmware is different and i suspect that it wont work.
