Sawdust in making Charcoal Briquettes?

My hamster won't come out of the sawdust, is he sick?

  • My hamster, Nemo, bites other people. She bit my brother, then went under the sawdust. She is hiding in a corner, with her ears back not making a noise. I'm scared she is sick, or dying or something. I don't think she's pregnant, but she is showing all the signs. There is no way she could be pregnant anyway, she hasn't been in contact with any other males.

  • Answer:

Is the rooom warm enough? If not she will hibernate so be sure it is warm. Also she is niocternal and runs and exercises at night so during the day she wil burrow into a nest of bedding. If you wake her,,,do it slow. Talk to her and call her name. Do your normal feeding and watering while you talk to her. If she does not bite you then she has bonded with you and trusts only you.

If you're worried about him, check on him. Remove the sawdust from around him and see if he's alright. Be careful though, moving it might scare him and cause him to quickly turn around and bite. Digging under their bedding is normal for hamsters though. They tend to sleep underneath it. It's very likely he's just sleeping.
