What hamster cage should I get?

  • I have a dwarf hamster right know. She has a temporary cage but its kinda small. She is not a tube girl. ( dosent like tubes) and LOVES sleeping. I was thinking of a storage bin. And I don't really want a cage that is super expensive. She get board fast. So any good toys u recommend to would be awesome!!!!! P.S I don't abuse her. I hate when ppl say that to me.

    Bin cages are excellent! I just finished making my second one and can safely say that I'll never purchase another store-bought cage in my life. It's huge and cost me only about $25 total. (That's the cost of the bin itself + wire mesh + screws/washers/nuts to hold the mesh on. Not including the power drill and utility knife needed to modify the bin.) There's a ton of tutorials online on how to put together a good bin cage, just search on Google for "hamster bin cage tutorial", and you'll find step-by-step instructions on how to make one. A big cage will certainly keep her from getting so bored, and you could put a larger variety of toys in the cage for her. She'll love anything she can climb on top of or chew on.

I have 3 dwarf hamsters and my girls live in a tank style guinea pig cage with the wire bit at the top covered in wire mesh just in case. I use carefresh as bedding adding about 2inches to the cage which gives them plenty of space for burrowing mine tend to burrow into the carefresh to sleep. As for toys I don't really know what is available in America

This is a really great cage. You can make the levels different if you don't want them that big. It's wire, so no tubes! :) Make sure you have a wheel, ball, and plenty on entertainment.
