Should I change my age on Facebook?

  • I am 17, and when I first joined Facebook I put in my correct age. Now that I've switched to the new timeline, however, I want my FB age to be 18. I find it really annoying to be a minor, mainly because I can't make ANYTHING public, not even my cover photo. I was thinking I could change my birth year until I've turned 18 and then change it back, but because I am a minor Facebook has a warning that says they might delete your account if you lie to them about your age. Is there really a danger that they would suspend me or something? There are still several months until my birthday. Should I risk changing it, or should I just live with things? Is there anyone who has done this that can give me advice?

Well, you could change your age, that's for sure. But then again think you are still a MINOR and you shouldn't disclose too much data anyway. I see a lot of people on FB who tell and show everything about themselves. Always be careful with what you post and more importantly, share the details with the FRIENDS only. And these friends should be real life relatives/friends, not anyone you find online. Your safety is very important, don't take it lightly.

personally i think you should leave your age as your real age... a while ago i changed my age so that i was older on facebook but know i have it set on my real age, although i have it set so that it only shows the date and month not the year i was born. I think no matter what age you are you still shouldn't be showing your facebook profile to everyone the most i show it to is friends hope i helped :)

eWhy dont you hide your age! u cn hide complete DOB or just the year on fb. Afterall this no one even going to notice the missing year from DOB No one cares about it at all If any one wants you to tell your age u can tell them yourself you can tell real or fake age to different ppl as may want to

Sometimes it wont allow to even if you do, and its not always beneficial to have everything public anyways.
