Should I change my name?

  • basically, my mom gave me my dad's last name. he died shortly after i was born and my mom and dad never got the change to get married soooo i literally don't know anyone with my last name. i dont know anyone on my dads side of the family... its really awkward having this last name because no one has it o.o i want to change my first name too, its a really common name. in school theres always a girl with my name and you always have to tell people how to spell it because no one uses the original spelling anymore ._. and my middle name sucks too.. lol. it just doesnt flow with my first and last name. my family says i can change my name if im really unhappy but is the process long and do you think i should change it? i really hate it. i dont NEED to change my first name but i really really want to .

I don't like my name either... like you, I think my first name is way too common and unorginal, and my my middle name is just, I don't know... I don't like it lol. but like the above person said, your mother gave you the name she gave you for whatever special reason... I don't like my name much but I know my parents gave it to me with love. You could make slight adjustments, you can maybe drop your middle name, or just go predominantly by a nickname, but I don't know if I'd change it completely

Your mom gave you your name, and that's what makes it special. I'm not exactly fond of the name Brenda, but every time I hear it I think of how much my mom loves me. I guess you could change it, but I would think of it as an attachment to your family.
