Best running socks, Wigwam, Thorlo, Smartwool?

Im beginning to pick up running for fun, and am looking for some nice socks. I want to invest in some nice socks and am having trouble on deciding. All the above speak highly of their socks and reviews on many sites all are positive. What i am looking for is a running socks that keeps moisture and odor out. I want to be able to wear these socks not only to run, but play golf and other sports. Can someone please help, thanks

My favorite socks for running are Thorlo Tennis socks. They are a little bit thicker than the Thorlo running socks. I like the cushioning. However, they may not be what you want. Do they repel moisture? Nope. They just suck it up and can get a bit heavy. You may want to go hi-tech and try DryMax socks rather than my "old school" Thorlo socks.

I'd find a running specialty store that will let you try some on. They should have spare pairs around from when people don't bring their own and are trying on shoes. It's not just brand - different models have different thickness, cushioning, etc.
