How to get in shape for cross country?

okay so currently im on my schools lacrosse team and i was thinking about doing cross country in the fall (since its the same coach) the lax season ends in about 2 weeks and as soon as it does im going to run everyday on my treadmill so what should i do to get in shape for cross country. Currently i have like a 8:30 mile and i want to get it down to like 6 minutes or even 5 (my dream time) So how can i get it down by using my treadmill should i put it on a huge incline like i just need ideas for a good running plan to build my endurance and get a much quicker mile time.

If you're going to do cross country, you should run outdoors and run in a park or something do a circuit everyday. Run around your neighborhood, school, whatever but not on the treadmill it's not the same. You should increase how many miles you run every week. Maybe twice a week run a mile, give it all you got and time yourself!
