Why is my skin rejecting the ink?

Body rejecting tattoo?

  • About 6 days ago I got a tattoo on my left shoulder. I had been doing the aftercare the artist told me and the tattoo looked great until yesterday when I noticed how gross the scabs looked. Some pieces of the scab fell off and there was virtually no ink underneath. When I woke up this morning another big chunk of scab had fallen off and there was absolutley no ink on the skin where it was. The tattoo is ruined to say the least. So is it possible that my body is just rejecting the ink?

  • Answer:

nope, not rejecting. after the tattoo heals up the ink isnt as vibrant as when you initially got it done. the vibrancy is also dependant on how much you applied a good moisturizer to the tattoo while it was healing. if you applied nothing, that would explain why your tattoo isnt showing much. if you did apply moisturizer to it, then you'll have to go back to the tattoo artist to get a touch up, this happens oft times.

It doesnt sound like your body is rejecting the tattoo, sounds like you got a sh!tty tattoo artist that went way to deep into the skin! Someone mentioned "the tattoo is not vibrant after the scab falls off" bullsh*t! Six days later, that tat better be vibrant and look awesome! I have a half sleeve and just recently got a frog on a flower on the upper inner arm and it didnt scab at all! Granted my artist is the best there is... but you should def go back and have them fix the colors FOR FREE!

It's totally normal for a tattoo to get really UGLY while healing. Including looking faded. Continue to follow your aftercare. Then if it's not looking normal in a week or so, make an appointment for a touch-up.
