What are good tips on how to revise for any exams/tests?

  • Okay i have a test that come with credits and i'm working toward level 1 so i like a beginner i have done a maths internal and a accounting one as well but i kinda failed and i can re-try my accounting on when i sit my exams and my maths i had a second go but they did not give me the results back i'm pretty worried because i just failed my first internal for math which was worth 4 credits and accounting 3. I actually what to know is there are really good tips on how to pass my next internal or exams i'm the one who studies really hard wake up early in the morning before the test happens when i sit the test i have butterfly's in my tummy and i'm thinking way to much thinking about other topics or think to my self "what question shall i start" i hate that kind of feeling. My mind goes all fast and when i finish all the easy things i look at the time and i realize i was wasting my time.My Point that is there any good tips on how to revise? and are there any tips how to relax in a test or exam? Thanks :)

I think you would benefit from doing loads of past papers if you can get hold of them. It sounds like you have probably studied your notes etc as much as anyone would expect. Doing past papers lets you practice applying your knowledge and also finding the right way for you in terms of how you tackle the paper. Create exam conditions for yourself. That is, don't have access to notes etc, time yourself strictly and make sure you are free of interruptions. If a particular paper doesn't go well, don't panic, this is why you are practicing! Look back at what helped and what didn't in terms of how you approached the paper. Identify any gaps in your knowledge that you can address. Remember to use your teachers. Get some extra tutorial time if you can and would find it useful. They are the experts in what you will need to know etc. I'm sure you will find you get more confident the more papers you do. Maybe work with other students from time to time. A great way to be sure you know a subject is to teach it to somebody else. You will all have different strengths and weaknesses. Identify a topic each that will be useful to teach to everybody else. Get feedback after wards as to how helpful your contribution was and anything you might have missed out. Prepare all your stuff for the test the night before. Avoid the temptation to cram. Relax as much as possible, maybe have a long, luxurious bath and then get plenty of sleep. On the day try and have something to eat at breakfast and make sure you at least have a drink of fruit juice etc.You need a sensible dose of carbs as "brain food" if you like. A bit of nerves is good and will help your performance. The trick is to keep it under control. If you can walk to the exam hall this will burn off some nervous energy. Talk to friends, of course, but avoid getting into the stories about how much or how little study you have each done. Dress comfortably with layers, such as a cardigan or jumper. that you can add or remove depending on the temperature of the venue. Wear comfortable shoes. Some slip on flats or sandals are good if they fit with any dress code. They are easy to slip off if you are more comfortable that way. A really good technique to keep yourself calm and grounded is to sit with your feet flat on the floor (preferably without shoes) focus on feeling the ground under your feet and take slow, deep breaths. Listen carefully to any instructions or advice from the invigilators. Read the instructions carefully on the paper. They may not be the same as on past papers. Tell yourself you can do well and remember you can only do your best. Good Luck and hope this helps.
