What do I need to get into NYU?

If my GPA is about 3.0 what SAT score do I need to get into NYU or UT?

  • I didn't really realize the importance of my grades and GPA until this year, my junior year. My GPA is from 2.8-3.2, still not fully sure since the year isn't over yet. I just want to know if this is as bad as some people I've talked to make it out to be and how high of a score I should aim for when I take the exam in order to have a chance at being accepted at either NYU or UT.

  • Answer:

    get into NYU or UT

Not sure about UT, but if your GPA is around a 3.0, your chances for NYU are pretty slim regardless of your SAT score. NYU's average GPA for incoming freshman is usually around a 3.6 to 3.9, while the middle 50% of SAT scores range from 1940 to 2230. Supposedly, the lowest GPA they've ever accepted was a 2.9, and that was probably in a very special circumstance.

You're NOT getting into NYU with a 3.0 GPA. It's one of the most difficult schools in the country to get into. You should always "aim" at the highest score you can, shouldn't you?
