Do you think there is life in other galaxies?

Do you think there is life on other planets on other galaxies and why?

  • also, give one method which scientists use to look for life on other planets thnx

  • Answer:

This is unknown. It is emotionally hoped that there is life on other planets but there is no way to know for sure. There is a famous equation called the Drake equation that (when all the information is gathered) will predict the probability of finding life (and goes further to give the probability of finding intelligent life). If you ask experts they'll give you answers ranging from 99.999% certain to 50% to 0.0001% possible which tells you the width of our ignorance. I would estimate the chances therefore as 50% give or take 50%. However the Hubble deep field experiment has shows that there are a lot more galaxies in the universe than we had initially known about, furhtermore on Earth we have discovered "extremophile" bacteria that widen our search parameters for life. We have found that bacteria recovered from the equipment placed on the moon by Apollo 11 and recovered six months later by Apollo 12 shows bacteria brought to the moon from earth lying dormant but alive in the near perfect vacuum of space with temperatures ranging from hundreds above zero to hundreds below zero and deadly UV light with no protection from an atmosphere or magnetosphere for six months, after being returned to earth proved viable. All this and the discovery of an entire eco-system around deep sea volcanoes (called Black Smokers) completely cut off from the light of the sun, expanded our definition of life beyond a photosynthetic to chemosynthetic life. That means our belief in the possibility of life outisde of Earth has gone from extemely optimistic at the start of the 1900's (e.g. War of the Worlds) to extremely pessimistic (around the late 1900's) to once again extremely optimistic. Hence with these new discoveries we are once again optimistic about the chances of finding extraterrestrial life. So optimistic are we now that the Galileo space probe was deliberately crashed into Jupiter so as to avoid any risk of contaminating what might be an eco-system on Europa.

there are so many different forms of life thinking and asking eachother questions atm like " do you think there are others that live on that weird planet?" but they cant come to earth because they wont survive here just like we cant survive in their planets

Yes, there are probable chances of life on other planets throughout the Cosmos. To get more & more closer to the answer, NASA launched 'Kepler Space Telescope' to observe the planets in other solar systems orbiting in 'Habitable Zone' or 'Goldilocks Zone'. The Kepler Science Team has found 1,790 host stars with a total of 2,321 planet candidates as of 2012 Feb 27, up from the 1,235 planet candidates announced 2011 February 1. Some candidates may not be planets—false positives that look like transiting planets, but are not. Many scientists are doing follow-up observing with ground-based telescopes to confirm discoveries. Confirmed planets are announced as discoveries. In Dec-2011, NASA declared a planet which is mostly earth like - "Kepler 22-B". It orbits around Kepler-22 star in the northern constellation of Cygnus in the 'Habitable Zone'. So there are high chances of existence of life out of our solar system, not 'Extraterrestrial Life' but at least the 'Microbial Life'.

Once you really understand how vast the Cosmos is, the question of life elsewhere becomes obvious. The odds of Earth being the only place in all the Universe is ludicrous. Distant galaxies must be teeming with life of all sorts. They are as unaware of us as we are of them; it's not like Earth is an obvious target for study from a billion light-years away. It's like a single grain of sand located on a beach on the other side of the world. Currently there is no method to look for life outside of our Solar System, as it's all too distant. We can't even image extrasolar planets just yet. But we are hoping to be able to do so soon. As more planets are discovered in the 'habitable zone' (also known as the 'Goldilocks zone', where it's not too cold, or not too hot - just right for liquid water, etc.), then we can try to study the spectra of these worlds to look for signs of life. Such as large concentrations of oxygen or carbon dioxide, or even carbon monoxide, which would mean they have heavy industry!

Yes all over the cosmos, for it is where we gain such experiences as for the soul as we incarnate in these places or planets etc. We are all at very different points or stages of evolution, so we need as vast area of space to reside in and so learn from that which these planets offer so the soul. We are all one form or another of human origin, though the features will vary per se. try the seti program. we say that they have found an answer to their inputs but have kept it quiet so far.

Clearly there is life out there... the universe is so big, why should life be limited to earth? There's probably life in our solar system imo.

The mathematics of all the stars there are in the galaxy proves that there is intelligent life out there we just need too find it. There are 2 billion stars in our galaxy, 100 billion galaxies in the universe the math just proves it.

The methods are the same as for common people to search life on Moon and Mars. Try herself and answer about life on Moon first. So the method and answer give no life to you but death just as no answering quite. Aliluja!

if you think about it the earth is equivalent to about one grain of sand in the entire ocean and beaches combined, and that still might be too big. with all that out there we cant be alone right?
