Why do people worship celebrities?

  • Like Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe, etc., etc. If I called Audrey Hepburn a *****, would it matter? Honestly, so what if she did charity or she was attractive. Does that make a person valuable? I'd say not. I would love to live in a society where people worshiped firefighters, (non-dirty) cops, their PARENTS. (given they are good parents) Not celebrities who do things because they are EXPECTED to (yes, expected, such a novel idea, no? Every celebrity donates at some point or volunteers because they HAVE to, other wise they would be shot down by everyone, but what about everyday people who sacrifice precious time from their lives to help others?) I know I'm going to get so many answers that will say "Audrey was beautiful, and a great person!" Or, "I hate you! You suck! You're jealous!" Because that's how predictable and sheep like most people are. I could call a girl on the street a *****, and no one would give a damn. (hell, I've seen people call their own mothers this!) but as soon as you insult some shitty icon, the world hates you. Why are people like this?

    As much as I like to wish that I was as interesting as celebrities i accept that i never will be. Come on, who could measure up to $30 million a year for doing nothing, being given FREE clothes, cars, shoes, jewellery, everything imaginable etc. just because using the product will make ppl scurry out and buy it, going to awards/Hollywood parties, every one of your friends being a multi-millionaire worldwide celebrity, spoiling ur kids rotten for their entire lives, have ten houses on every country on the planet, boats,yachts,cars,rings, etc. you get my drift. Normal people will stand out in a line for DAYS in the rain, hail etc. just to catch a glimpse of celebrities and then break down crying in a ball on the floor when they leave and no longer "grace us with their presence". Celebrities are seen as Gods in society, and honestly I often believe they are because they're is like no proof that they are actually humans. They're so godda*n perfect in every way.The entire thing is extremely unfair and pathetic.

Celebrities are kindof larger than life. People want to have individuals that they can look up to and not think of them as ordinary. You might look up to someone you know personally even more, but being famous, celebrities just get it on a much larger scale, if that makes sense.

I've never seen the real hype about any kind of celebrity before and I'm a teen girl :) Personally, I feel they're exactly like us, but some people have this strange idea that they're gods or something to that nature that we scream and squeal and get into cat fights about. And not all celebrities are that "good" as we think they are. Some of them have weird, messed up lives that doesn't exactly make them rolemodels. I really just pity a lot of them. When a couple divorces, for example, no one in this world really cares except the immediate family members and friends. When a celebrity couple divorces, its spread to every corner of the planet. It seems horrible to me, to have your life exploited and blown up like that. I don't really think there's anything wrong with admiring someone, say a singer you like or something, but there's no reason to WORSHIP them.

They admire their bold stances on topics, they admire their lifestyles or personalities, they admire their talent and giftings and "worship" the fact that they "went out and made themselves into something in this world".

Normal people look up to celebrities and idolize them. They're usually jealous that they aren't famous and they don't have fame and wealth and the good life like a lot of celebrities do. It is what it is. If normal people want to be famous, they might as well do something to get famous
