How does one get experience in acting?

  • I am 22 years old and I've always been intrigued by acting ever since I could talk. The only thing is I have no experience in anything. I've never been in plays or anything. I'm not really interested in theater acting though. I use my daily life experience as tools to practice acting. I want to gain some experience in films, may it be people filming things for fun or independent films. What are some recommendations for achieving experience to add to a repertoire?

    In order to get into acting you have to start with theatre. Film acting is a lot different from theatre acting, but getting into independent films is just as hard. They usually take fresh out of acting school actors to be in their films and sometimes you don't even get paid. I recommend you at least take an acting class and try going to auditions in community theaters in your area. The most you might get into for now is student films that you can add to your resume. You will need a resume and headshot esp if you live in NYC.

try taking an acting class. It will help you figure out if you really like it. You might want to try just one play so you can see what acting is like. There is really know other way to get experience except for that. Also try auditioning for commercials to start! Don't be upset if you don't get a gig at first its a really hard thing to do just keep trying!

do student and ind. films. their open calls you can get yourself on. take film acting classes.

Well, many celebrities started off in theater so maybe thats something you want to try. I have experience in theater and i think its pretty fun. Plust it will teach you the basics. :)
