Asian parents..grades..help?
-
Ok so right now..my progress report came. I have all As and 2 Bs (not final grades). I have an 86.75 in Intermediate Algebra and an 87 in biology. Here comes the Asian parent part.. Ok so pretty much since 6th grade..ive had straight As. Now that sophomroe year hit..it's been hard finding the balance between school and sport. So for the first semeser, I got all As and I B. My parents FREAKED. They looked disappointed and guilt tripped me about how they gave me everything I need and want. And they keep telling me that I'm not going to be able to get a scholarship with the grades that I got ( I got all Straight As freshmen year). My mom threw a ******* attitude towards me. But they got over it. Eventually, I got a talk with my mom about how she's starting to accept getting Bs (or 1 B) and that she and my dad will be supportive of me. A week ago I told my mom I currently have 2 Bs. She wasn't made but she started guilt tripping me about college and how's she's so tired and working so hard....i mean i feel bad you know? Then my progress report came out yesterday. My mom confronted me about it in the car. I got all As and 2 Bs. she started guilt tripping me about ooohh im working so hard for you and giving you everything and that ever since sophomore year hit I've been laid back and not studying and blah blha blah. I started crying at home but she told me ...OHHHH IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT..DON'T BE CRYING CAUSE ITS ALL YOU FAULT. I MEAN..WTF....what happened to that supportive talk a few weeks ago? Now she's trying a fit at me about my progress report and thinks I'm a slacker. I'm working at raising those 2 grades. I mean my math grade woul've been an A but i didnt use my test upgrade or my quiz upgrade yet because I want to wait for more things to be entered in and so i could see how to use it on. Biology..is my weakness. But I'm working at it. an 89.5 is an A and i have an 87.04. I'm in a sport and in joining the NHS and I consider myself well-rounded, ambitious, finding volunteer opportunities, taking AP classes, and all that. I may not be perfect anymore but I mean..would Bs really kill my shot at getting a scholarship. My parents jsut dont' understand our grading system here. How do i deal with this?

Answer:
I think 1 or 2Bs is ok. Just try not to get Bs anymore. And ignore any guilt trip they give you, it's already done, you already got B, you're gonna have to deal with their anger for a bit but not for long, as long as you keep trying. I think it's great that you do sports and volunteer etc., it's so important. If you want to be a doctor they don't just look at your mark (even though it's really a big factor) but they also want to see you take part in other activities, being a well-rounded person, having hobbies, being able to solve problems on your feet etc. good luck.

Its the end of the world if you get Bs. Seriously it doesn't matter if you get Bs. I have 3 Bs english, math, and social studies 2 As science and world language. you will still be able to get a scholarship.
