Tips on memorizing things easily?

Acting and future advice and tips please? (Long)?

  • Hello, I know 15 is supposedly "too young" plan my future and what I want to do. But honestly, I've always known that I would have to end up doing something acting related. I have of course throughout my life thought about and considered other things (Fashion design, writing...) but truthfully acting (film and theatre) and hopefully directing+writing (film, theatre) is what I really want to and I can't really see myself doing anything else in the future. It's always been something I have loved, theatre and movies. Believe me when I say I KNOW how difficult and risky it is to go into acting, but even if it's not what I end up doing, I know that I will always regret it and be angry with myself if I don't go for it will all my might. I don't really know much about how after university life and work and such works, but I have a very vague idea of what I hope to do. Finish school at 18, start university at 20-ish (I would probably have to do 2 years of the army because I live in Israel, I really want to move to London for University. Or stay here.) and if I'm VERY lucky, study at a Drama school after Uni. Note: I am, and through all that will continue studying acting of all sorts and get experience. Now I have a private acting teacher/tutor. She's a stage actress in the country and we work on memorizing and learning scripts and songs, body language etc. At school this year I do Drama (I took part in a film last week) I also had drama when I was younger in my old school for a couple of years. The summer holidays are coming up, and when I go to London in August I'm doing an acting camp/classes course in a university. (With other teenagers) For the month before/after I am looking into another drama/dancing camp to do. Next school year I will do alot more. So a few questions which I am really nervous about and need some answers: * How is my "plan"? What are it's flaws? Do you have any tips/advice? * What other things should I do for experience and learning? * I know during Uni one usually works; for experience, money etc, so I was thinking I could maybe work in costume design for theatre, understudy or something. Would that be a possibilty? Overall, I need opinions! Thank you! X

    1. you don't really have much of a plan, as far as I can see. you plan to finish highschool and go to college (or uni, as you might say). but that's pretty standard. i can see plenty of other people going through all of that. --> i mean, i'm not trying to rain on your parade or anything, but honestly, what it all boils down to is how talented you are. and i'm not saying that you're not talented because i have no way of knowing. but let me just tell you, out of what I see from my cousin's life (she's an actress), everything has to work in your favor. you've got to meet all the right people, which means you've got to have all these spectacular social skills (which doesn't just mean being nice to everybody. it means alot of different things: spunk, uniqueness, wit, etc etc), you've got to be attractive in some way (whether it's your looks or the vibe you give off or your attitude), you have to keep an updated knowledge base on all the different theatre and cinematic pieces out there. and of course, you have to be hella good, artistic, smart, everything. i know that you've made the point of knowing how difficult it is to take a step into the business, but it's probably far harder than you think it is. so once again, i'm not trying to discourage you (although that might be hard to believe at this point) but you've gotta face it. and you just have to realize that you might be rejected many times, and if you're bully enough to handle that, then you've got a bigger chance than someone who might just back out in the middle of it all. 2. i think that you should find a non-stipend or unpaid internship because you've got the best chance at those, especially if you're young. and in my country, there are plenty of those around, i don't know about yours. 3. and i think being an understudy is quite necessary. i don't i've heard of too many people being a star directly. so that's a must, is what i'm saying. well good luck to you!
