How is Macbeth a tragic hero?

How is macbeth a tragic hero?

  • thanks! :)

  • Answer:

Macbeth is primarily a tragic hero because he begins the story in a high state of success but possesses a "tragic flaw" that eventually leads to his downfall. Many people would say that Macbeth's tragic flaw(s) include pride, vanity, and being overly ambitious. Also, he is obsessive and easily swayed by others. Unlike other tragic heroes, however, Macbeth has no change of heart before he dies. He does realize the error of his ways, but instead of turning back and trying to rectify things, Macbeth stubbornly plows on through to his own downfall and death.
