  • Answer:

Good books about teen life from Christian authors: The Christy Miller Series, the Sierra Jensen series, both by Robin Jones Gunn. She follows teens through high school, with all the drama, up through marriage. Also Melody Carlson write a lot of books from a teenager's perspective. She tackles difficult issues, such as suicide, drugs, etc. Some of her books are dark, but only because of dealing with tough issues. Her lighter side can be seen in the "On the Runway" series, about two sisters who have a TV show dealing with fashion all over the world (yet have very different views of fashion). Both authors have a great writing style.

I refuse to believ that such things as teen books exist. If you're 20, the whole of humn literature is available to you. Read the greats - Melville, Austen, Bronte, Flaubert, Cervantes, Hugo, Dostoevsky - even Dickens if you must. Aim HIGH.

Since you're interested in high school drama, you might enjoy reading the work of Carolyn Mackler, E. Lockhart and Lauren Myracle. Check out: The Earth, My Butt and Other Big Round Things by Mackler The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks by Lockhart Peace, Love and Baby Ducks by Myracle The Internet Girls trilogy by Myracle (ttyl, ttfn, l8r g8r -- written entirely in chat-speak through IMs and chat room conversations) An Abundance of Katherines by John Green (former prodigy develops a mathematical formula to predict the end of a relationship) Will Grayson, will grayson by David Levithan and John Green (Two teens named Will Grayson meet -- their stories are told in alternating voices) Bumped by Megan McCafferty (dystopian novel in which teen pregnancy is lauded) Hope this helps. Happy Reading!

Rather than listen to other people's suggestions about what book you should read, you should try visiting an online plot summary website and browse around until you find something that intrigues you. A cool one that I use a lot and that has a lot of great plot summaries is called The Plot Spot: http://theplotspot.net
