How long do co2's last?

After the complete breakdown of asparagine..waste products (Biochem)?

  • After the complete breakdown of asparagine, how many molecules of waste products (urea, CO2, and H2O) are produced? I believe that there will be one each of H2O and urea, and there will be 2 CO2s, but I am not certain? Will you please explain the reasoning behind the answer as well??

  • Answer:

Aspartate is a glucogenic amino acid. L-asparaginase hydrolyzes the amide group to form aspartate and ammonium. A transaminase converts the aspartate to oxaloacetate, which can then be metabolized in the citric acid cycle or gluconeogenesis. Wikipedia
