Quick college essay question?

Have a question about writing an application essay for college?

  • Ok so I have to write an essay to my future college (hopefully if they accept me) about why I believe college X is a good match for me. I want to start off saying something about myself like where I was born, my background, and then I want to say why I believe this college is a good a match. Is this a good idea? What else do you think I should say, any key words that could really make a good impression on the admission counselor? How should I end the essay? How long should the essay be because they really don't have a word limit? Thank you in advance

  • Answer:

Instead of writing about where you were born, try focusing on your achievements/ activities. Have you won any awards? Played any sports? Volunteered? Are you a member of a church? Club? Honor society? Write about how activities at college x will help you further these talents. Also, tell the college about your life goals and how the college will help you achieve them. I think those are probably the things they're looking for.
