Would guys approach a quiet and modest girl at prom?

Do most guys know to buy a girl a corsage for prom?

  • My prom is may 5th and I'm going with a guy friend who I'm not that close with. I was going to order the corsage and boutonniere but after listening to a few of my friends talk about it and my own mother, it sounds like it's usually the guy's responsibility to buy a girl the corsage and girl's to just get the boutonniere? We're both juniors and this is our first time going to prom. If I ordered his boutonniere would he know to also buy a corsage? He knows my dress is black and silver because he matched his suit to it, so he would know to get me a matching corsage, right? I suppose it would really just depend on the guy, but is this the sort of thing that boys just know to do? Because as a girl, I'm pretty clueless. He did buy my prom ticket for me without me asking or hinting for him to, if that's any indication. I just don't want to show up for photos and have his boutonniere ready and not have a corsage...

    He may or may not know about the corsage and boutonniere. Just mention to him that it would be nice to have matching flowers since you have matching outfits and ask if he wants to go with you to pick them out. It's been nearly 40 years since my prom and I didn't have a clue about this stuff then and neither did my date. Our mothers had to educate us, so maybe his mother will say something. Just ask him about it and see what he says.

If your guy friend remembered to buy your prom ticket, he will probably remember a corsage...not all guys are like that no matter how good at heart. sometimes they can be kind of clueless. maybe you should drop some hints... don't make it too obvious lol... for ex. wouldn't it be cool to have matching flowers with me dress... idk that sounds pretty lame but you get the idea!

generally yes, the guy should get the corsage for you, if possible the best thing to do would be to have one of your friends or his friends kinda casually ask the guy is he is planning on getting you one! if he says no, your friend should tell him to get you one. lol thats what i usually did.
