How much is this property worth?

Considering that the worth of human life is greater than the worth of property, how is abortion justified?

  • - A mother's womb is merely a mother's biological property. In other words a mother's womb is a material thing that is in a mother's possession. - The womb does not include that which is contained within the womb, only the womb itself. For if a house included all the people in the house, then any guests would be considered property of the houseowner. - The womb in and of itself is not her life, it may mean her life if the pregnacy continues, but in that case it is the status of 'pregancy' that is her life, not the womb. In contrast, however, a foetus is in fact a human life. Now it may not be a fully developed human being, but it lives, and it is characteristically human (as opposed to cat, dog, or frog). - A foetus is dependent, but that does not mean that it is a woman's property too. A human life is not owned by anyone other than the human life itself. For if one day old children, for the mere fact that they were completely dependent as you are trying to say for the case of abortion, were a woman's property, then infanticide would be justified. How do you justify abortion?

  • Answer:

Since you're using property as an example, let me put it like this: Even if the guests are not the property of the house owner, the owner of the property still has the right to evict the guests or have them forcibly removed if they are not welcome within the property. [edit] It may not give you the right to outright kill the guests, but if evicting them from your property means that they will die as a result (such as if they have no where else to go, no food, no money, etc. etc.), that is not a responsibility of the house owner, and it does not count as murder.

Actually, there is no intrinsic worth to human life OR property. Only what people give it. And a fetus is more property than human. Better aborted than unwanted!

If you go by the Bible it says the soul doesn't enter the body until first breath. I don't know about late pregnancies, but if a fetus has no brain waves, soulless! Miscarriages happen all the time, doesn't mean we need to prosecute them for involuntary manslaughter.

if you stop the life support machine of a brain dead person, yes, you're killing human life, but you're NOT killing a person. hint - human life does NOT equal a person. "For if one day old children, for the mere fact that they were completely dependent as you are trying to say for the case of abortion, were a woman's property, then infanticide would be justified." what a load of utter garbage. who calls their body their "property?"

Simple. Go to a clinic, and get it taken care of. What if the woman was raped? What if the woman got terminally ill? What if the guy left the woman and she had no means to provide for the child? People are not sacred. If one cannot properly provide for a child, then one should not have it.

Abortion is legal, if you don't like it then don't have one.

Legally, abortions take place before the fetus is old enough to live on it's own outside of the womb. The majority of them happen well before that, before it even looks human. Would you have a problem with the abortion if that fetus were likely to kill the mother? Would you have a problem with the abortion if the fetus was unlikely to survive? Why is a misscarriage not a crime by "god" himself if you're going to think along that lines? Religious people are always saying still born babies were taken by "god" too early. Why does "God" get to abort millions and millions of wanted babies all the time, but one woman cannot make a decision about a child she cannot care for?

If you don't agree with abortion, don't have one. As for why people think they are justifiable, we'll, that is between the woman and her doctor. YOU have no part in the decision so keep your religion and biases to yourself
