How can i make my yahoo messenger associate with firefox?

How do you access Yahoo Messenger program to make changes?

  • My OS is Windows XP and using Firefox as my browser, I have tried to find Yahoo Messenger. Where and how do you find the program? I am forever getting messages to chat from unknown people. But I cannot respond to the messenger to make changes because I do not know what to "click" to access the program. I have received answers from top contributors saying go Yahoo Messenger and click in the left window and so on....Surely, someone has an answer to this deli ma and can provide information. I would appreciate your help. Thank you, Janette G

  • Answer:

There are two Messenger programs, a short version within the Mail version, and a full download with many more features available from ... http://messenger.yahoo.com http://www.filehippo.com/download_yahoo_messenger (ALL versions) http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ (for Messenger 10+, on IE 8+) http://java.com/en/download/index.jsp (for Messenger 10+, on IE 8+) http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/netframework (for Messenger 10+, on IE 8+) If it does not show in the Programs list or Delete, it is most likely the mail version that pops up messages to chat with unknown people. However, be VERY careful. Most of these are spam - some will eventually ask you to click a link (pornography or malware) and others will start a robotic style of message before doing this. Some are from con artists who will start a friendship before eventually requesting money, of course ... BEWARE! ... To stop spam messages, in the Messenger window click preferences then Ignore list. In the next window check 'Ignore anyone not on my friends list'. Click ok ... To disable Messenger Chat in Yahoo! Mail ... 1. In the top-left of new mail, an arrow, or in the Folders list in Classic mail, click the word between your Yahoo! ID and Sign Out (It will be either Available, Busy, or Invisible) ... 2. From the menu that appears, select Sign out of Chat to disable chat from within Yahoo! Mail. Your Contacts list disappears and your chat status is set to Offline ... Note: Yahoo! Mail saves your chat status when you leave Yahoo! Mail. When you return to Yahoo! Mail, it resumes the same status. If your last chat status was Offline, chat from Yahoo! Mail will be disabled. You’ll remain signed out of Yahoo! Chat until you re-activate it ...
