Car amplifier and sub?

Help with car sub and amplifier?

  • Ok so im fairly new to this stuff. Im am buying a sub with the following specs: RMS: 350W Peak 1400W Frequency Response: 23Hz – 400Hz Impedance: 4 ohms What are the minimum/recommended specs for an amp that i would need to make this sub work? Thanks

  • Answer:

Well one important factor is whether it has 1 or 2 voice coils. Either svc (single voice coil) or dvc (dual voice coil). This is important because when you wire your sub, at 4 ohms an svc sub can be wired at 4 ohms, but a dvc sub can ONLY be wired at 2 or 8 ohms. Based on that if you have a dvc sub you would want to look for an amp that puts out around 300-500 watts rms at 2 ohms. If it is an svc sub you wanna look for an amp that puts out around 300-500 watts at 4 ohms.

http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/p_19340_Crunch_P11002.aspx you can hear and make an adjustment to the gain so u wont distort the speakers. never make it over powered make it the same wattage if u get one that is to much turn the gain down thats what i have done with audio installs for the last 15 years.

well your amp has to be higher than your subs.if lower the higher chance your subs will be blown.keep it at 4 ohms .if you got a small amp your subs will work harder and it ll get blown.
