What amp do i need to power my sub?

What amp would i need to power this sub and speakers?

  • im new to all this car audio stuff. i have a soundstream sub that has RMS 300 Watt, Dual 2 Ohm. I have 4 speakers that are RMS 20 Watts for each speaker 4ohms. What is the minimum or recommended specs for the amp that i would need to run these? Thanks

  • Answer:

a standard 75-100x4 amp. Something decent quality. In sifting through sonicelectronix I came across these: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_24110_MB-Quart-ONX4.80.html http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_27732_Massive-Audio-NX4.html As I suggested in your other question -- You can use two channels to run the 4 speakers. Wire each pair of speakers in series for 8 ohms reducing the amp outputs to 40-50w - 20-25w per speaker. For the sub you'd wire the coils in series for 4 ohms and bridge the amp giving you 350-400w. Using a low gain setting should allow the sub to run fine.

Technically, there is no minimum. You can run as low of an amp as you want and it'll still play from your subs. However, an ideal size of an amp might be from 350-650 watt amp for your setup. Hope this helped!
