Sending a laptop from America To Ireland?

Also factor in the cost of a new power cord. My hubby was working in IRL and his cord cost him over 100 euro. Not cheap.... Might be better to buy there.

Depends on the kind of postage method your friend buys. I presume there'd be a secure, insured method but it would be quite expensive I'd say. On top of that your friend would have to make a declaration to customs about the contents of the package, ie it's estimated value etc. I'm not sure about the regulations in the Republic (I'm in the north) but when I was considering buying something from the US once I was informed there'd be quite a bit extra to pay in import duties. The regulations can be quite complicated as well and if you wrongly declare the contents of your package it can be held by customs and you might receive a fine. Just remember buying stuff from outside the EU is not as straightforward as it seems.

You should definetly get a courier,I would never send anything that value by normal mail or even recorded mail and this would be more secure.I would imagine even with recorded post it would get thrown around quite a bit where as if you send it with a courier it will be looked after better.Having said all that why go to the bother unless it is a model that you get a lot cheaper in the U.S.A. buy it in Ireland.

You'd be safest with a courier, standard mail would be far too risky, plus the cost wouldnt be worth it. With the courier there would be more assured to get to the destination

I agree with Ethan. Much easier and probably cheaper in the long run just to buy one in Ireland.
