Why does my pregnancy belly fluctuate?

2 Positve Pregnancy Tests, then a negative the following day :( How likely is it that I really am pregnant?

  • Been ttc baby #2 for about 8 months now. I did a progesterone blood test this cycle which confirmed I did ovulate. I was over the moon to get to two positive pregnancy tests yesterday but crushed to get a negative this evening. I'm trying to tell myself 1) it's really early (period due today) and tha HCG levels can fluctuate. And 2) the negative test was taken @ 9pm after a 32 oz glass of water over a late dinner. I hope it's not a chemical pregnancy! Guess I should keep hope until aunt flow shows. Thoughts? Encouragement? *arent false positives pretty rare? Thanks

  • Answer:

It's almost impossible to have a false positive, and extremely common to have a false negative. If you've had two positive tests, then your body is producing HCG, and if your body is producing it, then you're pregnant. If you still want to confirm it, then go to your gp for a test. Congrats! All the best!

The fact there were two positive test is a really good sign and yes the negative one could be because it was taken at late at night. the best time to take a pregnancy test is in the morning because if you are pregnant the HCG hormones will be at there highest in the morning and make sure it is your first urine sample of the day. Hope it turns out to be the news your looking for. Fingers crossed x keep me posted

a positive test is definatly a positive test as it reads hcg levels .. it might just be to early to read levels later in day when urine is diluted
