  Normally, you can perform a home pregnancy test from the first day that you missed your period and onwards. This test can be taken up to 6 days before your first missed period (or 7 days after your ovulation) but the accuracy is not as good if you take the test that early. False negative rate is up to 90% if you take the test one wee before your missed period. The best time to take a pregnancy test is always with your first morning urine, since the level of the pregnancy hormone, hCG, is highest which makes it easier for the test to detect it. Later during the day, your urine is less concentrated and the hormone level may become too low for the home pregnancy test to detect.
