How much should I charge per hour for babysitting?

  • This next week I'm babysitting some kids and I don't know how much to charge. Tomorrow I'm babysitting a 17 month old so how much should I charge per hour? I'm also babysitting a ten year old one night, how much to charge? I'll also be babysitting a 5 and 7 year old... How much per hour? Normally I just let the parent decide how much they should give me but I think I should know how much is an accurate pay?

    Babies- $15 per baby plus $10/hour. Toddlers- $10 per toddler plus $9.00/hour. Kids 6 or over- $5 per kid plus $8.50/hour. If there are two kids witha big age difference your charge the hourly rate for the youngest.

Usually they decide even though when I took a babysitting course they told me I could pick a price. But that's not usually how it works. If they bring it up say you normally charge about 8-12 dollars an hour per kid, and if needed your willing to negotiate.

I usually let the parent decide if its over 1$ lol! Usually they do 5-10$ if there richer family 20, but normally the average is 8.

when I baby sat, I was paid $10 an hour. I started babysitting this child from the time he was 4 weeks old until he was around 2 years old. When he turned 1, they had another child and I began babysitting both at once. I then had a newborn and a 1 year old and was still paid $10.
