How do I get a good sound out of my electric guitar?

• It's not the tuning or anything, I have it tuned properly, but I can't get a good sound out of it. It always sounds muffled and fuzzy. How can I get a good, clear, crisp sound out of my guitar and my amp?   Hello there, Your gear is just fine for a beginner. I think the Fender Mustang is a very good choice for a beginner amp because it is so versatile. Muffled and fuzzy? Do this. Play your guitar through the amp's clean setting. No distortion. Leave the gain down. Strum each string open. Do they ring clear? If so, there is nothing wrong with the guitar or the amp. Next form an E, A and D chord. Strum each. Do the notes still ring clear? If they are muffled now, it is your technique. You need to work on how to properly form chords so that the notes ring clear. Distortion works great for single notes and power chords. For full chords, it muddies the sound. Watch how you use the distortion. Later,
