Who Linked My Website?

What does it mean if a domain name is linked to a website?

  • I have this website that tracks ip addresses of visitors to my Tumblr blog and it says one of the views was linked to the website of a University. It says domain name: then the website of this Uni. What does this mean? Does that mean this person opens my Blog from a uni computer or what? Btw the place of this person is pretty close to this uni(prolly in the dorm) I really need to know this. It's rather important

  • Answer:

I would have said that the 'visit' must have come via the University server - so it would have been from someone logged into the University network. I am guessing that you cannot 'trust' the IP address information implicitly as I believe there are probably ways of 'faking it', but chances are that this visit was made from a PC logged into the University network.

assume house=website house address=domain name(website address) difference house=only 1 address website=addresses as many as you add to any website. If you have one or more domain and linked to a website, any person opens any linked address(domain) see the linked website in browser. thanks...
