Is there a hidden surveillance camera in my house?
-
My daughter's father recently moved in with us and he says he wants to be a family but I'm concerned he is here for the wrong reasons. I recently found a program on my computer called Ivideon and I did not think much of it until I found out it is a program that acts as a surveillance camera. Here is the website that makes Ivideon if you want to find out more about it: http://www.ivideon.com/ When I opened the folder containing the files for this program (Ivideon) there was a file that provided me with three model numbers for surveillance cameras. Im concerned there are hidden cameras in my house but I want to make sure that the information I found in this file is what I think it is so I am posting this question online so I can get to the bottom of this. The first surveillance camera is: http://www.tp-link.com/en/products/details/?model=TL-SC3130 The second surveillance camera is: http://narmadi.com/2009/02/wireless-internet-camera-d-link-dcs-2121.html The third surveillance camera listed is: http://www.tp-link.com/en/products/details/?model=TL-SC3130G Here is what the file (where I found the info on the hidden cameras) says when I open it: <?xml version="1.0"?> -<upnp-device-to-camera-db> -<basic-devices> -<basic-device modelNumber="DCS-2121" modelName="DCS-2121"> <camera-settings height="480" width="640" path="play1.sdp"/> </basic-device> -<basic-device modelNumber="TL-SC3130" modelName="2-Way Audio Surveillance Camera"> <camera-settings height="480" width="640" path="video.mp4"/> </basic-device> -<basic-device modelNumber="TL-SC3130G" modelName="Wireless 2-Way Audio Surveillance Camera"> <camera-settings height="480" width="640" path="video.mp4"/> </basic-device> -<basic-device modelName="Internet Camera"> <camera-settings height="480" width="640" path="ipcam.sdp"/> </basic-device> </basic-devices> </upnp-device-to-camera-db>

Answer:
This sounds suspiciously troll-like. The IP of the website she wants you to click on is based in Russia. Read: Malware/Scam or both.

You should search your computer for the file 'play1.sdp' and try to open it. If the extension is not recognized, open the location of that file. There could be a file named 'video.mp4', open it and see what it is. If it shows the house, try to locate where the camera would be and take it down or something.
