Would foster care be an option?

Foster care the better option?

  • I am 15 and lived with my grandmother because my mom does drugs and cant afford to raise me, but my grandmother beats me mentally, physically, and verbally every day. So i ran away to get help from a friend and they just called my mom, which i understand was the right thing to do, but now i am living with my mother who is a drug addict, a over controlling step dad, and we live in a one bedroom apartment. My parents always scream and fight about me being here and there not being enough money, yet i work and help pay for rent while my mom sitts around ALL DAY. So to sum things up, id foster care better for me? Thanks.

  • Answer:

Foster care isn't as bad as a lot of people make it out to be. As long as you're open to having other people take care of you for a while, it's not that bad at all. You'll be expected to help out and be able to take care of yourself as well, but hey, I always thought of it as the equivalent of living in a dorm. And it's much better than being surrounded by abuse and drugs and lots and lots of yelling. You can always go back and visit your parents and see how they're doing, but if you're not happy there, getting out is the best way to go. Good luck~

You would really have to think that through. You can't go back once you've decided to go into foster care. You won't be able to get your life back. That's something no one here can decide for you. Best of luck, darling. :D xoxo
