You feel you have no more emotions whether positive or negative. You just feel "blah" about life. It can be distressing when you KNOW you care about somethings but you don't FEEL anything about it now. Emotions may also come and go for no reason. You know you feel something in your head, but can't find it in your heart. You may also not care about anything anymore. in a sense, you have NO emotions about anything or things you used to. ^ I feel exactly like that. (This all happened after a health scare that I thought was really bad but turned out to be common so I stopped freaking out about it, when I stopped... I just stopped feeling altogether. I don't know what happened!) ** I eat and sleep fine. I'm not suicidal (only sometimes when I still can't seem to feel anything) but generally, I'm not. At first, I felt fatigue a lot but then as the months passed, I started feeling less fatigue and now I barely feel it..I only hate myself BECAUSE I can't feel anything.. If I started feeling something again I would practically love myself to death. Basically, my only problem is emotional numbness/emptiness and disconnection from the world and my loved ones. I can't stand feeling nothing for my boyfriend! It's like in my head I KNOW I love him but I can't seem to find it in my heart and he's the one thing I was sure about ever since I met him. I love him so much. Not only do I not feel anything for him, but everything I was passionate about like dancing and my other friends..Everything was perfect before the numbness hit and I just want to be myself again...Also, my chest tightens sometimes for no reason even when I have no reason to be nervous. It makes it even more hard to feel anything.. It makes my limbs shaky and weak too when I try to shake it off or do something physical to get rid of the tightness in my chest It's like I'm always in front of a live audience.. I can feel that I'm nervous physically but I have nothing to be nervous about so I can't feel it emotionally? Gah.. I don't know.. Please help me! It's been going on for at least two months now...I know this isn't how I used to feel about things!... How do I cure that? I don't want to feel this way anymore! I just want to love again! Take everything else away from me just not my love for him...I don't want to stay this way forever. Is it possible that this could take over completely and I may never feel normal again? HELP! I don't want that to happen.. DO I STILL LOVE THE PEOPLE I LOVE? WHY CAN'T I FEEL IT? WHY CAN'T I FEEL FOR MY DREAMS AND PASSIONS THAT I USED TO FEEL SO STRONGLY ABOUT.. It's STRESSING ME OUT to the highest level and scaring me.. I don't want my feelings for everything to disappear! Will they ever come back?!

You say this all happened when you had a health scare. Im thinking it could be Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome. When we are in fear for our life for any reason it can leave us in fear that we cant seem to break alone. Anxiety, Panic, loss of emotion or afraid to feel. To me this is a good shot at the answer. I know you can be helped. But , you cant do it alone and you need a real Dr. to help diagnose you. Get into therapy and work through the fear. No you are not crazy. Its a normal reaction to a highly stress full time in your life. Most insurances pay for therapy. If for some reason you dont have insurance there are many low or No cost therapists. Check the phone book and call other clinics and ask for help in finding a low or No cost therapist. Im sorry that you have had to live like this , but the good news is with some hard work I believe you will be fine. I wish you the best.

Time may tell? I don't know honestly, I'm sorry. I'm in the same boat in some areas, but think about things that are stressing you, you care, don't you? You have to if you're stressing. It's an oxymoron. I think that your body may have had something dramatic happen, and it's shutting down to cope. If not, then I'd say that you can't *feel* that you care, but it's there. Maybe you have to show it different, maybe in the not usual way. Think about your actions toward these people, and base your assumption off of that. If it's in your head, which may very well be possible, but manifesting itself in to real life (not saying this isn't happening, or you're not feeling like this), but rather, you're mind is generating it. Try literally shaking it off with positive reinforcement, keep busy, don't think about it, ignore it and tell yourself you feel how you want to feel. Treat it like depression. Hope some of this helps.

I'm taking a shot here a guessing that you feel ossified by your apathy. It's a very difficult thing to deal with. Many people, when given a circumstance that is beyond their control, such as the health scare you mentioned, may begin to dwell in this area that has presented itself to you. This area could correctly be labeled as an area beyond your control. In our lives, there are many areas like this, so many, in fact, that a large percentage of people begin to believe that their entire lives are beyond their control. They react to their lives instead of seeming to live them. My suggestion is that you must turn all of your attention and focus to the aspects of your life which you can control, and attempting to improve what you can. Make a definitive list of the person you wish to be, and remind yourself often of what you are striving to be. You will find as you begin to affect change upon the things you can control, that you will begin to come back to who you are, and these feelings will have shape and form. Eventually you will come to see that you have power, and this apathy will subside. I hope this helps.
