Can you help me get a job as a teenager?

Homesick. Help me get a work permit in the states please.... :'(?

  • I have been really sick since I came back to my own country. I couldn’t adjust to the culture or the food at first, and one day, after eating my country’s traditional meal, I got really sick and I was sick for a month. I have been feeling depressed thinking that going back to the states is not even an option because right now I do not have enough money to afford being a student and I do not have a permanent residency. I have been trying to get a job in the states, and I had a lot of job offers, but once they realize how complicated the process is for the employers to sponsor a worker, they stopped contacting me. I’ve tried looking for an internship, but most of them offer internships only for recent graduates. I thought this was my own personal problem that I am “homesick” (this might sound a little ridiculous to some people, but I have been in the US since I was a teenager so the country means a lot to me). So, I have tried exercising regularly and doing things I love during my spare time, like painting, dancing, etc. These things help me forget about the states for a moment, but when I’m resting, I feel like… “what am I doing here? Why can’t I go back to the states when I feel like it’s my home…?” I kept telling myself that it’s okay and these feelings will go away after a few months. However, it’s been a year and half!! and the same feeling still exists!!! :’( I also thought maybe it is because I have been away from my family for too long, so I am thinking of moving back in with my parents. This will be my last try. If this doesn’t work, then I will really have to go back to the states somehow, and I would need a help on that. The thing I miss the most in the states is the freedom and the creativity. In my country, creativity is very limited, and I can’t breathe because there are too many things that I SHOULDN’T do! People hardly appreciate art because they are all busy working. Things are too fast-phased here, so my calm, cool :P ? personality is not appreciated either. Sigh. I am now working at a top university in my country and my parents are very proud of me. But I think I should think about my happiness and health first. I have been sick for 4months now with a lot of different diseases. I feel like it could all be cured once I take enough rest and start my life again in the states. I even thought about marrying my friend to get a permanent residency lol. But I’m pretty ethical, so I couldn’t. lol. Please help me… Are there any easy ways to get an American visa or a permanent residency?? Or, is there anyone who is willing to help me get a visa? Anyone please hire me….? I will cover all the costs that occurs for the visa process, and I will complete all the documents needed :’< I sound so desperate :’( * My major is advertising design, and I graduated university in the states with an honors degree. Currently, I am working at a top university in my country as an international program coordinator (planning, organizing, and executing international events, while also working as a designer and a translator). I love coordinating programs and events, especially for international people. I love learning about different cultures. I got “the best art student award” in my high school, so I have designing skills too. I can handle any kind of work and a lot of workload is not so much of a problem anymore, especially after working in my country for a while! Please give me a chance if you need someone with creative ideas, good planning skills, and personal skills (note that I am very international as well ;) . Please help me even if you don’t need this kind of person at the moment; just think that you are doing a little favor for a person who’s dying to be somewhere she considers to be home :’( help me….!!!! Thank you.

  • Answer:

You have to get your degrees FIRST, plus get experience, and publish, and become known in your field. THEN you can get a work permit. Oh, and I just read to the end. You will need to change your major. We have no need to import anyone in advertising. You will need to change to science or engineering.

I would think your problem is more your mental attitude than the actual place. As long as you carry with you this mountain of resentfulness and negativity you will feel bad. Home is where you make home. It's not just a place, it's an attitude. Unless you have an advanced degree it is hard to see how an employer could sponsor you. Basically they have to show that they can't find an US citizen for the job before they can hire you. It doesn't have to do anything with being willing, it also has to be with being able. And other people might feel desperate for a job, just to get enough food. Be grateful for the loving family you have and the job you love to do. Not sure whether you are in Japan or not, but I've known some Japanese artists. They exist. And one of them is very extrovert and doesn't seem to have any problems with it, but has a lot of friends and travels all over the world.

I am sure you will be find, just take some time to adjust. Most people feel this way so you are no alone. Try and eat blander food at first.

Give it some time to readjust returning to your country. You just need time. Americans would like to find employers to hire them too and would resent you getting work in a field that has a waiting list of citizens eager to get. Unemployment for college grads is sky high here. And millions of laid-ff workers are without health care as well, so you are not the only one suffering. Please stay home.
