It's going to take a year to get a greencard, you can't wait here.

Not necessary to get a passport just yet. It's important though, that you make a copy of your I-94 when you apply for a green card. Through the I-94 number, they'll be able to verify your visa information that was on your stolen passport. And, quite frankly, even if you didn't have your I-94 nor your visa information, you could always fill out and I-102 form from the USCIS website and apply for a replacement I-94. You put all the information you possibly can about the biographic information that your I-94 had (exactly how your name appeared on the I-94, your birthdate, your place of birth, etc etc etc), along with a police report showing that it was stolen, and they could look it up for you and send you an official copy of it. It's $330 at this time. At this moment, though, if you don't know your visa number, just leave it blank on your application for Green Card. Don't worry. It won't cause trouble. When you go to your interview, the Immigration Officer just wants to be sure you entered legally. You won't have any trouble demonstrating that since you have your I-94.
