Where To Buy Harley Motorcycles At Wholesale?

What are some good motorcycles with good gas mileage?

  • I've sworn into the Navy for four years and my job requires me to travel around the U.S. a lot, so my dad is looking to buy me a slightly used motorcycle to travel in. I've heard the Harley 883 is a good one for gas mileage. But I've also heard of some good Kawasaki's sports bikes that have great gas mileage. But I just want to know some good motorcycles for the gas mileage and price, can you help me out please?

  • Answer:

I am happy with my Savage. It is a 652cc single cylinder cruiser, cheap to insure. It is light and easy to ride, just 380 pounds wet. It is wicked fast on the streets, capable of 85+ mph on the freeway. I get horrid city mileage, a hair under 50 mpg. But that is the streets of Los Angeles, half the time waiting for the signal to go green, at which point I am Wide Open Throttle. And I do have *fun*. Touring the Interstate, doing 65-70 mph, I get 60-65 mpg. In the Mojave, CA-62 from Parker AZ to Thousand Palms, cruising 50-55 mph, I got just a hair of 70 mpg.

If you are required to travel around the USA, then the Navy will pay you for that travel, or buy tickets for you on a bus, train or airplane. A motorcycle would be a very poor choice if your job requires traveling in the USA during the winter months, or if you have to carry a good amount of gear with you. Why don't you wait until you find out what the job really requires before you start spending money on transportation for that job.

If you are active duty, the USN will transport you, free. But: My CB650 averages 48 mpg with regular to 52, with premium. And, that's a mixture of 40-50 mph on the parkway/expressways and stop-start riding. Generally, the smaller the engine==better mileage, to a point. The less hi performance seem to do better with mileage, too. It also depends on How you ride. I would not be surprised if mine were actually rated Lower than what I get. EDIT: Guess What, the books rate it at only 40...I'll see what I get on the freeway to Sierra Vista. REF: Was Navy brat. Came to CA in a C47 MATS plane.

Gas miliage pretty much goes with engine size and performance. While the 883 is big and has good miliage for the size, it only puts out a puny 40hp. A modern bike half that size can easily put out the same horsepower and get better miliage. Gas miliage is no reason to buy a bike. Some cars get almost as good and they haul alot more stuff and they are better in weather. Ally...from the artical you linked. >>>Harley Davidson XL88. This motorcycle comes with a V-twin engine that is all-aluminum. The engine can give you 44.8 horse power. It's made the list of the best gas mileage motorcycles because it gets an average of 55 miles per gallon. Not only is it fuel efficient, but it has more power than many other motorcycles that are on the market.<<< Dollar for dollar, pound for pound, cc for cc you are not going to find a motorcycle with worse power than this bike. Whoever wrote this artical is clueless. The guy is so clueless that he lists the same bike like it is two diffrent bikes with diffrent specs, the XL88 and a regular 883 are the same bike, just diffrent paint and chrome doodads.
