How to access files on external hard drive.?

Hi, I have an external hard drive which has 2 OS on. when i plug it into my laptop I have changed the owner of the partitions to the current user on my laptop and I can now access all of the files on it but i cant see any of the pictures it says that i do not have the correct permissions to view this file. How can i sort this? Thanks Jamie.

Answer:
You need to change the folder/file permissions. Right click the folder and click properties. Go into the security tab and change your permissions. You might have to take ownership first by hitting the advanced button going to the ownership tab and clicking the checkbox to replace all child object permissions.
