Audio problems on a Windows 7 HP dv7: YouTube quality issues?
-
As stated in the description, I'm running a Windows 7 HP dv7 laptop, and I started having quality issues from the get-go, mostly with problematic bass levels and unnecessary compression. I've managed to fix the problem with files on my computer by tweaking both the Windows audio options and the (try not to gag) Beats Audio options. However, high-quality videos on YouTube are clipping/dodging like crazy, which seems to be caused by the aforementioned bass level/compression issue. Before you go typing away on your computer, this is NOT an issue with the videos or my headphones. I've compared audio quality from this machine to my desktop to the computers in the Mac Lab back on campus to my mobile device from 360p to 1080p when possible. Everything is exquisite until I get to this particular machine, regardless of video quality. So don't try to tell me that my headphones or tested videos are the issue. It would be a waste of time. With this in mind, I'm not quite sure as to what I'm supposed to do about this. The only hypotheses I can come up with are the following: - This machine has separate settings for audio files on the machine and audio files on the browser. - Alternative audio drivers (or a re-installation of the primary drivers) are needed. - The sound card has an issue and needs to be replaced.* Does anyone else have any other ideas? Otherwise, I'll just have to listen to my YouTube audio on other machines from now on. *I'll double-check the warranty information, but if it's just a 14-day warranty, I'll have to make any part-replacement decisions by Wednesday.
